I sprayed them with penetrating fluid (to death), beat on them, used an air chisel with a pushing pin, used a torch for heat, beat some more, added a generous supply of cursing, till finally I used a bottle jack, and . So far I have rebuilt all control linkages with oilite bronze bushings I modified on my lathe. I removed all the axles from the machine, and in each case, the castle nut had no more than 5 pounds of torque. Just the slightest bump of the wrench and it was loose. I'll probably shoot for somewhere half-way between 90 and 5 foot pounds. I keep getting my bits stuck in the foundation. What's the best way to get them out? Is there a chemical or something that you can spray around a bit to help free it?
