Based on availability of local support, cost and financing, I've narrowed the field . I'm not saying that Cat is the best, but Bobcat definitely is not anymore, . I love my Cat 216. I can’t say enough good things about it. When I bought mine new in 2001 I had just bought my farm and had no money. Now 4 years later I still have no money but I only have two more payments on the skid steer. Cat financed me 0% for 5 years and let me decide when I paid, meaning annually, semiannually, quarterly or monthly. On youtube you can find a head to head comparison between and asv and a cat each at 75 hp. The asv clearly out performs the cat. Before purchasing my asv I rented a Kubota 75 hp. Rough riding and slow. My 60 hp asv can move just as much dirt as the rented Kubota if not more. There are comparisons of tractive pull as well on youtube. BX2360/ Kubota SVL90-2/ Kobelco 115SR/ Takeuchi TB260 I've got 1200hrs on my Cat 287B with the original tracks. I did replace about 6 boggie wheels and 3 idler wheels 2 years ago and had to replace the seals in 5 of the bogie tubes at the same time.

TAKEUCHI TL 150 MTL SKID STEER FECON BH74SS BULLHOG and a Posi Track RC 100. I can understand that a skid steer may offer more versatility but just looking at mulching I would think that the dedicated mulcher would be better. I have read that the Fecon 90 will accept most skid steer attachments. I think it is because about 80% of the 297C is oriented toward the rear of the machine. This is because it is based off of the 272C skid chassis. CAT moved more weight to the rear to produce a skid with over 3,000lbs ROC (previously their largest skid-262B had an ROC of 2750lbs with counterweights). ASV still builds machines sold under the Terex name to my knowledge, but ASV also sells under their own brand (ASV LLC). ASV also contracts with CAT and supplies their undercarriage to CAT for the 2X7 model machines. In turn, ASV uses CAT pilot controls. A mini-ex is a one-note specialty machine while the skid steer loader is a far more versatile general use machine with lots of attachment options that can be rented or bought. but imho the bigger issue is what you can actually buy (size, age and condition) for a mere 00.
