I have a Case 1835 diesel and have an oil leak that I've narrowed down to one of the variable displacement pumps (the rear one of course). I have removed the pumps and the control valve (it may be called a shutter valve?) appears to have an o-ring seal behind a clip and washer..I think that's the culprit.

When I got the machine the Hyds sounded terrible and the Oil looked even worse. Working on the new skid loader today. Case 1835b. Has hydraulic leak. Going to track it down!The machine will do it when the oil is hot or cold, and the syptoms do not change with operating tempature. I talked to a couple of hydro shops, and one suggested swapping the relief valves to see if the problem showed up some where else - I tryed that and it didn't work.

I am outlining my steps taken thus far in testing it out.
I believe a way to check if the drive motor is leaking is to jack the skid steer up on blocks, and remove the wheels and the drive motor. Then start up the engine and engage the drive and see if the shaft seals are leaking.
